While it was once thought that it would be difficult to obtain approval for health claims regarding skin functions other than “skin hydration,” “moisturizing power,” and “barrier function,”
claims such as “skin elasticity,” “protection of the skin from UV damage,” “skin turnover,” and “peripheral blood flow” have been added, and there are even cases where mechanisms of action such as glycation stress and antioxidant effects have been included. Against this background, I would like to explain how incorporating the mechanism of action into existing skin health claims could lead to differentiation. |
